In the last 30 years, I have written for some of the nation’s leading newspapers including The Boston Globe, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Capital Times (Madison, Wisconsin). I started my career as a staff reporter for United Press International, where I covered A-wire stories including the October Surprise trial of Richard Brenneke and a landmark civil suit against the White Aryan Resistance. As a correspondent for The Boston Globe, I traveled to the top of a mountain in Vermont to show how U.S. soldiers were training to fight in the mountains of Afghanistan. As the education reporter at the Skagit Valley Herald, I was part of an award-winning project examining the growing Latinx community in Skagit County, Washington.
